What It’s All About
Our Wolf and Beaver camps take place on a beautiful 18 acre property, near Holland Centre. The property features a large shaded deck where we make art & crafts, an expansive yard for playing games, and trails that run through a mixed forest, bordered by a shallow creek at the back of the property. This year we will have access to a covered porch, for any rain we may get.
Every day we begin with an opening circle and conclude with a closing circle. We sing camp songs, tell stories, play games, make and create, explore in nature, and develop new skills and knowledge about the natural world, science, shelter building, orienteering and fire-starting.
Every summer we introduce new and exciting art mediums, as well as daily drawing practice, painting and our yearly indigo dyed t-shirts! Projects from the past 4 summers include: Sketching exercises and free drawing in sketchbooks. Watercolour and acrylic painting on paper, stone and wood. Woodworking and soapstone carving. Clay sculpting, weaving and papier mâché sculptures. Printmaking, textile printing, felting and indigo dyeing. Bracelet making, beading and hair-wraps. Birdhouse painting and mobile-making.
We strive to offer a mix of structured and unstructured activities that meet the varying ages, needs and interests of our campers. On the last day of every camp we like to invite parents to come and see a little of what we've been up to.
We look forward to hosting your children this summer!!
